The Brown men's tennis team defeated the University of Denver 7-0 Saturday afternoon at Meehan Auditorium. The Bears defeated Pioneers in every match, including straight sets in five out of six singles sets.

"It was good for us to play against a team of this caliber," head coach Geoff Young said. "The loss gives our team a good reference point to where we need to be."

In doubles action, Jamie Cerretani and Chris Drake defeated Nejc Smole (Fr., Ljubjana, Slovenia) and Urban Ljubic (Jr., Ljubjana, Slovenia) 8-2 at the number one spot. Adil Shamasdin and Nick Goldberg defeated Hans Peter Gaber (Jr., Anger, Austria) and Viktor Zetterholm (Fr., Stockholm, Sweden) 8-4 at the number two spot. Ben Brier and Zack Pasanen defeated Jason Tan (So., Monnickendam, Netherlands) and Colin Day (Fr., Denver, Colo.) 8-3 as well in number three doubles.

Cerretani defeated Ljubic 6-2, 6-3 in number one singles. Drake defeated Zetterholm 6-2, 6-2 in number two singles. Shamasdin defeated Smole 7-5, 6-0 at number three singles. Goldberg defeated Gaber 6-2, 6-3 at number four singles. Pasanen defeated Tan 6-4, 0-6, 6-1 at number five singles and Brier defeated Day 6-0, 6-1 at number six singles.

The Pioneers (1-3) are idle until Friday, Feb. 7, when they face Montana State in Colorado Springs, Colo.
