The University of Denver men's tennis team ended its two-match losing streak with a 7-0 shutout win over Boston University this afternoon at Stapleton Tennis Pavilion. Denver improved its record to 10-6 overall by winning all three doubles matches and all six singles contests.
"It was a good win for our team today," head coach Geoff Young said. "It's great to end our two-match losing streak and finish off winter quarter and head into spring break with a win."
Hans Peter Gaber (Anger, Austria) won his 12th straight match with a 6-2, 6-1 win over J.P. Debbink at No. 3 singles. Also winning singles matches were Urban Ljubic (Jr., Ljubljana, Slovenia) at No. 1, Nejc Smole (Fr., Ljubljana, Slovenia) at No. 2, Viktor Zetterholm (Fr., Stockholm, Sweden) at No. 4, Jason Tan (So., Monnickendam, Netherlands) and Brian West (Fr., Houston, Texas) at No. 6.
Ljubic and Smole won 8-3 at No. 1 doubles over Geoff Wagner and Adam Siegel to jump-start the win. Gaber and Tan teamed at No. 2 for an 8-2 win over Noel Moossa and Nick Ganias, while Colin Day (Fr., Denver, Colo.) and Zetterholm were victorious at No. 3 with an 8-2 win over Debbink and Jason Vinoles.
The Pioneers (10-6 overall) will travel to Cal-Riverside on March 23. Match time is scheduled for 12 p.m.
