LAS VEGAS - The University of Denver's three-game unbeaten streak was snapped when UNLV's Rod Dyachenko scored the game's only goal in the Pioneers' 1-0 loss at UNLV on Friday night in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation action. The Pioneers' first defeat in four games drops them to 5-3-1 overall and 2-1-0 in the MPSF. UNLV improves to 2-7-1, 1-2-0.

With just over three minutes left to play, the Rebels earned a corner kick, and while the ball was cleared out of the box, it was fed back inside to Dyachenko on the right side. Dyachenko fought through three defenders, and chipped a shot that glanced off Justin Durst (Destin, Fla.) to the left corner of the goal for the Rebel score at 86:42.

Denver attempted a season high 23 shots, but were unable to shove Rebel goalkeeper Peter Glitheroe. The Pioneers were led by sophomore James Merriman (Nanaimo, B.C.) with five shots.

Durst started in net for Denver and recorded four saves in the loss.

The Pioneers outshot the Rebel, 23-9.

The Pioneers return to action on Sunday, October 10, when they travel to play MPSF rival San Diego State at 3 p.m. MT.
