The No. 7 seed Denver Pioneers won the seventh-place match of the 2004 Sun Belt Conference Men's Tennis Championships on Saturday with a 4-1 win over No. 8 Western Kentucky at the Mobile Tennis Center.
The teams did not play doubles, and the Pioneers won four of the six singles matches to claim the win. Denver did not drop a set in the match, as WKU's Jarod Bolton won at No. 6 singles via default.
The Pioneers' Steve Flaks (Colorado Springs, Colo.) led the way with a 6-0, 6-0 triumph at No. 5 singles. Niki Popovic (Ljubljana, Slovenia) dropped just one game at No. 4.
Denver concludes its season with a 14-11 record, while the Hilltoppers finish the year 8-14.
