Denver defeats Creighton, 6-1

DES MOINES, Iowa- - The University of Denver men's tennis team won five of six singles matches and swept the doubles matches to win its first dual meet of the year and roll past Creighton 6-1 this evening at Drake University Tennis Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

Freshmen Adam Holmstrom (Eskilstuna, Sweden), Niklas Persson (Stockholm, Sweden) and Kalle Rosen (Helsingborg, Sweden), sophomore Steve Flaks (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and senior Jason Tan (Amsterdam, Netherlands) all captured single matches for Denver, but junior Viktor Zetterholm (Stockholm, Sweden) was defeated at No. 2 singles by Creighton's Vinny Meens in a thrilling three-set match, 6-3, 0-6, 10-8.

The Pioneers swept all doubles matches and won the doubles point. Holmstrom and Persson won 8-3 at No. 1 doubles, Zetterholm and Rosen won 9-8 at No. 2 and Flaks and Tan won 8-6 at No. 3.

The Pioneers return to action tomorrow against Drake at Noon MT at the Drake University Tennis Center.
