Men's Tennis Wins Second Consecutive Match

The University of Denver men's tennis team improved to 2-0 with a 4-3 win over Drake in tennis action this weekend at Des Moines, Iowa. Denver captured the doubles point and clinched the match when Kalle Rosen (Helsingborg, Sweden) defeated Drake's Chris Leuth 6-4, 6-2 at No. 5 singles.

Adam Holmstrom (Eskilstuna, Sweden) and Niklas Persson (Stockholm, Sweden) defeated Drake's Jack Frankowicz and Dalibor Davic, 9-8 (8-6) at No. 1 doubles for Denver's first victory. Steve Flaks (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Jason Tan (Amsterdam, Netherlands) clinched the doubles point with an 8-1 win over Leuth and Matt McClure at No. 3 doubles.

Denver won three out of the first four singles matches to claim the victory. Flaks won at No. 6 singles, Holmstrom at No. 1 and Rosen clinched the match at No. 5 singles.

"We played really well today," head coach Geoff Young said. "(Steve) Flaks went 4-0 this weekend after spending the first quarter studying in Europe. He was the rock of our team this weekend."

Denver returns to action on Friday, Jan. 28 against Colorado at Meadow Creek Club. Match time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
