Men's Tennis Drops Fourth Consecutive Match

Feb. 27, 2005

BOISE, Idaho - The Boise State men's tennis team, ranked 44th nationally, defeated the No. 69 Denver Pioneers Sunday by a score of 5-2. The Broncos won all three doubles positions (all with close scores) to win the doubles team point, and then went on to win four of the six singles spots to gain the victory. The loss was Denver's fourth in a row.

Claiming Denver's lone singles wins were Adam Holmstrom (Eskilstuna, Sweden) at No. 1 and Jason Tan (Amsterdam, Netherlands) at No. 4. Holmstrom upset Luke Shields, the 27th ranked player in collegiate tennis.

"Adam had a great win," head coach Geoff Young said. "We competed really hard today, but came up on the short end. We'll regroup and get ready for our trip to California in March."

The Pioneers (6-5) return to action on March 16 with a match against Iowa in La Jolla, Calif.
