Pioneers Drop Match to Central Florida, 7-0

Loyola, Calif. - Despite putting forth a good effort, the University of Denver men's tennis team fell to Central Florida, 7-0, in Loyola, Calif. this afternoon. UCF won two doubles matches to earn the doubles point and all seven singles matches which sealed the victory.

"I thought we gave a good effort today, said head coach Geoff Young. "Central Florida was just a bit better at every position."

Central Florida won at No. 2 and 3 doubles to clinch the doubles point, but Denver put up a fight as Viktor Zetterholm (Stockholm, Sweden) and Niklas Persson (Stockholm, Sweden) won at No. 1 doubles, 8-6.

The Pioneers loss all six singles matches but gave valiant efforts in each. Jason Tan (Amsterdam, Netherlands) was determined not to fall as he and UCF's Simon Jaeger split the first two sets to go into a super tiebreaker which Tan lost 11-9.

The Pioneers return to action on March 25 when they travel to Northern Colorado at 2 p.m. in Greeley.
