May 30, 2005

DENVER - University of Denver men's lacrosse senior midfielder Scott Davidson (Guilford, Conn.) earned STX/USILA All-America Honorable Mention honors for the second consecutive season announced recently.

The three-time Great Western Lacrosse League First-team selection helped lead the Pioneers to their second GWLL Co-Championship in 2005. Davidson ranked second on the team in points this season with 29, scoring 18 goals and adding 11 assists. He tallied a season-high five points (3g, 2a) in what would be his last game in the Crimson and Gold at league co-champion Fairfield. The face-off specialist won crucial face-offs which notably set up game-winning goals against Harvard and Air Force, and amassed 71 face-offs wins this season. Davidson also earned preseason All-America Second Team honors and 2005 Pioneer Face-off Classic All-Tournament Team honors for his play.

The Great Western Lacrosse League co-champion Pioneers ended the season 9-5, 4-1 with its highest end of the season national ranking in school history, 18th in the Geico/STX Coaches Poll. The Pioneers will return seven of 10 starters, and 25 of 34 letterwinners to the 2006 squad as they look to make another run at the GWLL championship and a berth in the NCAA tournament.
