NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The University of Denver men's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision tonight at Vanderbilt. The two teams were tied, 0-0, at the half but the Commodores outscored the Pioneers, 3-0, after the break. Denver has been shutout in each of its three losses this season. DU falls to 3-3-1, while VU improves to 5-3.

The Commodores' Joe Germanese scored the game-winning goal at the 63:33 mark. John Krause added an insurance goal two minutes later, converting off a corner kick. Germanese scored his second goal of the evening at the 74:47 mark to quiet any possible Pioneer comeback.

Freshman Joey Mathot (Port Moody, B.C.) lead Denver with three shots. Sophomore goalkeeper Matt Bredehoft (Fort Collins, Colo.) made three saves in the loss while VU goalkeeper Kenny Schoeni made two in the win. Both squads registered nine shots.

The three goals in the most DU has allowed since October 28, 2004 when the Pioneers lost, 4-1, at New Mexico.

Denver returns to action on Sunday, Oct. 2, when the Pioneers battle Western Kentucky in Bowling Green, Ky. at 1 p.m. MT.
