EAST LANSING, Mich. - The University of Denver men's soccer team drew a 1-1 tie with the Michigan State Spartans today at Old College Field. The Pioneers record moves to 0-1-1.

In the first half, Denver came out fast, and its pressure paid off in the 43rd minute when senior Zack Kobilca (Aurora, Colo.) scored his second career goal, giving Denver a 1-0 advantage.

It took the MSU offense almost 79 minutes to get going, but finally at the 78:49 mark Ben Pirmann crossed the ball in front of the Pioneer's net, where Louis Stephens was waiting to head the ball into the net.

Sophomore goalkeeper Matt Bredehoft (Fort Collins, Colo.) had to make only two saves as the DU defense limited the Spartans to only 12 shots.

Two periods of overtime proved fruitless for both teams, and the game ended 1-1.

The Pioneers are in action next weekend, opening their home schedule against Florida Atlantic on Friday, Sept. 11 at 4 p.m. at Pioneer Field.
