MIAMI - The University of Denver volleyball team recorded its third conference loss, in a 1-3 loss to Florida International Sunday in Miami in Sun Belt Conference action, 16-30, 22-30, 30-28 and 23-30. DU fell to 10-8 overall and 3-3 in the SBC, while FIU improved to 16-4 and 8-0.

The Pioneers out-blocked the Golden Panthers 11 to six, but only recorded a .139 attack percentage. Three Pioneers were in double-digits in kills, senior Lisa Hunter (St. Louis, Mo.) led the group with 17. Junior Alyssa Hampton (Parkville, Mo.) led the team in digs with 14 and Clare Maxwell (Western Springs, Ill.) had 49 assists.

"We were not able to adapt to their style of play," said head coach Beth Kuwata. "We could not match our defense to their style of offense."

The Pioneers return to action Friday, Oct. 13, as they face New Orleans in SBC play at Hamilton Gym at 7 p.m.
