May 1, 2007

Somers, Wis. - University of Denver junior swimmer Kelsey Totura (Castle Rock, Colo.) was named to the 2007 Mid-Major All-America team it was announced April 22 by CollegeSwimming.com. This is Totura's first-ever All-America selection.

Totura had an incredible junior season, winning 21 events including all three Sun Belt Conference Championship individual events that she swam. She never finished outside of the top five and only once outside of the top three in every individual event she swam. She set a meet record at the prestigious Ohio State Invitational when she swam 1:59.11 in the 200-backstroke.

She has won the 100- and 200-yard backstroke events at the SBC Championships for three years in a row and earned the title of Sun Belt Conference Swimmer of the Year this season. Setting new personal bests in the 50-freestyle, 100- and 200-backstroke this year, she shaved 1.5 seconds off of her old personal best in the 200-back at the SBC Championships, a marked improvement. She also set a SBC record in the 200-backstroke with her NCAA "A" cut time of 1:57.32.
