The National Golf Coaches Association announced the 2006-07 student-athlete and coaches awards for Division I Women's College Golf today. Winners were recognized at the NGCA Division I Awards Banquet held in Daytona Beach, Florida on Friday evening, May 25.
DU freshman Stephanie Sherlock (Barrie, Ontario), who was forced to withdraw from last week's NCAA Championships in the second round due to a virus, was nonetheless named to the Duramed FUTURES Tour NGCA Division I All-America Second team, one of 13 players to make the list. Sherlock was spectacular for the Pioneers all season long, leading the team in scoring average (72.84), rounds at par or better (13), rounds in the 60s (4), and wins (3). She became DU's third individual Sun Belt Conference Champion in April and helped lead the Pioneers to the NCAA Championships last week, the first time the program has ever qualified. Despite having to withdraw from the Championships, Sherlock's final two rounds were DU's best scores on each day.
In addition, Sherlock was named to the NGCA All-West Region team.
