Men 's Tennis Advances to Semifinals at SBCs

MONROE, La. - The No. 45 University of Denver men's tennis team defeated Western Kentucky 4-0 in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Conference championships today in Monroe, La. DU improves to 17-5 with the win and advances to the semifinals against Florida Atlantic on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. MT.
DU made quick work of the Hilltopers by claiming the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3, and winning three consecutive singles matches in a rain soaked first day at the championships.
Andrew Landwerlen (Las Cruces, N.M.) and David Simson (Vienna, Austria) won 8-1 at No. 2 doubles and Kalle Rosen (Helsingborg, Sweden) and Benny Althaus (Saarbrucken, Germany) won 8-2 at No. 3 doubles to clinch the first point.
Landwerlen, Simson and Rosen each won 6-0, 6-0 in their respective singles matches to clinch the 4-0 win.
