DU Volleyball Takes Down FAU 3-0

Box Score DENVER - The University of Denver volleyball team (9-11, 4-2 SBC) swept the Florida Atlantic Owls 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-23) in Hamilton Gymnasium on Sunday afternoon.

Both senior Emmy Davidsmeyer (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and sophomore Jordan Raines (Coppell, Texas) fueled a potent Denver offense with double-digit kills. Davidsmeyer finished with 17 kills, in addition to six blocks, while Raines had 12 kills. Senior Alexis Ninos (Cypress, Texas) also tacked on seven kills with three blocks and three aces.

Setter Kresson Vreeman (Raymond, Minn.) had 36 assists, nine digs and three blocks in the victory, while junior libero Kacie Wikierak (Crystal Lake, Ill.) provided a game-high 10 digs.

"After Friday night's loss to Florida International, we reevaluated the team's goals and I think today's victory is a reflection of that refocus," said head coach Beth Kuwata. "The increased effort is very good to see."

FAU's Christina Wallinger led the way for the Owls with 12 kills and four blocks, while Joanne Marras Tate had 33 assists and eight digs.

Next, the Pioneers hit the road for conference matches against Western Kentucky on Friday at 6 p.m. and Middle Tennessee on Sunday at 12 p.m.
