Pioneers Fall 2-1 at Sacramento State

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The University of Denver men's soccer team fell 2-1 to Sacramento State in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation action on Sunday night.

The Pioneers (3-7-2, 0-2-0 MPSF) took an early lead, when Sacramento State (6-5-1, 2-0-0 MPSF) failed to clear a Denver cross and scored an own goal in the 19th minute.

The Hornets tied the game in the 31st minute, when David von Stockhausen scored on a diving header off a free kick.

Sacramento State's Ernesto Carranza knocked in the unassisted game-winner in the 67th minute.

The Pioneers return home next weekend for games against UNLV on Oct. 23 and New Mexico on Oct. 25.
