DU Volleyball Falls to New Orleans 3-2

DENVER - The University of Denver volleyball team (6-10, 1-1 SBC) opened up its three-match Louisiana road trip with a thrilling 3-2 (22-25, 25-20, 29-27, 22-25, 7-15) loss to the University of New Orleans Privateers (10-5, 3-0 SBC) on Thursday evening in the Human Performance Center.

"Tonight was a tough match to lose," said head coach Beth Kuwata. "We fought the entire match and played some really good volleyball through the first few sets. However, we struggled toward the end and were not able to come away with the win."

Senior Emmy Davidsmeyer (Colorado Springs, Colo.) led the Pioneers with 20 kills and eight blocks, while sophomore Jordan Raines (Coppell, Texas) added 16 kills and 15 digs.

Maria Szivos led the Privateers with 22 kills, while Lindsey Loyd and Edina Dobi finished with 16 and 10 kills, respectively.

Denver continues its tour through Louisiana as it faces Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday, Oct. 3 at noon and Louisiana-Lafayette on Sunday, Oct. 4, also at noon. Both matches are available via Live Stats.
