Box Score DENVER, Colo. - The University of Denver volleyball team (13-14, 8-5 SBC) fell 3-1 (25-22, 25-17, 24-26, 25-16) to the University of Arkansas - Little Rock (14-12, 8-7 SBC) on Sunday afternoon in Hamilton Gymnasium, breaking its four-match win streak.
Senior Emmy Davidsmeyer (Colorado Springs, Colo.) led the Pioneers with 15 kills, bringing her career-kills total to 1,027 and moving her into 10th place on the all-time career kills list in the Pioneer record books.
Also helping out the Pioneers offensively was senior Alexis Ninos (Cypress, Texas) as she finished with 12 kills, while sophomore Jordan Raines (Coppell, Texas) added 10 kills.
Senior Clare Maxwell (Western Springs, Ill.) and junior Kresson Vreeman (Raymond, Minn.) split the setting duties for the day as they finished with 25 and 20 assists, respectively. Junior Kacie Wikierak (Crystal Lake, Ill.) led defensively with 17 digs followed closely by Maxwell with 14 digs.
Anita Bucur led the way for the Trojans on offense with 16 kills, while teammate Becky Mann added 15. Setter Giuliana DeFrancesco finished the day with 48 assists, while libero Emily Pepperman tallied 25 digs.
Denver remains at home this week, hosting three matches in four days beginning with a 7 p.m. match against New Orleans on Thursday in Hamilton Gymnasium. The Pioneers then host Louisiana-Lafayette on Saturday at 7 p.m. and Louisiana-Monroe on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Prior to the start of their match against the Ragin Cajuns on Saturday, the Pioneers will honor its three seniors, Davidsmeyer, Maxwell and Ninos with a pre-match ceremony. Denver will then hold its final Kuwata's Krew Clinic on Sunday, immediately following its match against the Warhawks.
