DES MOINES, Iowa - No. 48 Denver snapped a two-match losing streak with a 4-3 win at No. 53 Drake in men's tennis action this afternoon. The Pioneers also ended Drake's 47-match home-winning streak with the victory and improved to 3-2 overall.
After dropping the doubles point on three losses, DU rebounded with four singles wins to gain the victory. DU trailed 3-0 after a losses at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, respectively.
DU's comeback started with David Simson's (Vienna, Austria) 6-2, 6-4 win over Evgeny Silitski at No. 2. Johan Gunnarsson (Vaxjo, Sweden) followed with a three-set win at No. 5. Benny Althaus (Saarbrucken, Germany) tied the score with a 7-6, 7-6 win at No. 3 before Yannick Weihs (Guntramsdorf, Austria) won the match with a three-set win at No. 4.
DU plays at No. 59 Iowa tomorrow.
