DENVER - No. 52 Denver bounced back from a loss to No. 61 Nebraska with a 5-2 win over Oregon this afternoon at Stapleton Tennis Pavilion. DU improved to 7-6 with the win, while Oregon fell to 7-8.
“It is very nice to get a win before we take a few weeks off from dual play," DU head coach Danny Westerman said. "We have a great three-week period to make some adjustments and work extremely hard. Hopefully, we can build some momentum for our last seven duals of the year.”
DU captured the doubles point and four singles wins in the 5-2 win. Martin Zimmermann (Ludwigshafen, Germany), David Simson (Vienna, Austria) and Yannick Weihs (Guntramsdorf, Austria) were double winners for the Pioneers, who dominated singles at No. 1-4.
Benny Althaus (Saarbrucken, Germany) added a singles win and Johan Gunnarsson (Vaxjo, Sweden) paired with Weihs for a doubles win.
DU returns to action on March 21 at UC Irvine.
