DU Nets Big Win at UC Irvine

DENVER - No. 74 Denver edged UC Irvine, 4-3, in late tennis action on March 21 in Irvine, Calif.
DU improved its record at 8-6 with the road win, while UC Irvine fell to 7-10. DU won four singles matches to claim the win.
Highlighting the win was Ravjot Dhatt's (Victoria, British Columbia) return to the singles lineup. Dhatt, who is battling an injury, won in three sets at No. 6 singles. Also claiming wins were Martin Zimmermann (Ludwigshafen, Germany), Benny Althaus (Saarbrucken, Germany) and Yannick Weihs (Guntramsdorf, Austria).
"This was a fantastic win for the guys," DU head coach Danny Westerman said. "We were down after the doubles point as well as a set and a break on five singles courts, but we never stopped believing that we could come back. It was a total team effort, but hats off to Yannick for saving three match points and to big Ravy for clinching the match."
DU returns to action against Middle Tennessee at Stapleton Tennis Pavilion.
