Denver Edged in SBC Finals

DENTON, Texas - Denver's bid for its second consecutive Sun Belt Conference Tournament title ended today with its 4-1 loss to Florida International. No. 37 FIU improves to 17-5 with the win, while No. 34 Denver falls to 16-5.

FlU won the doubles point and three of the first four singles points to net the title. No. 66 Mallory Voelker (Dousman, Wis.) posted DU's lone point with a 6-1, 6-2 win over No. 67 Lisa Brito at No. 1 singles.

The loss ended DU's eight-match winning streak. The Pioneers defeated Middle Tennessee (4-1) and North Texas (4-2) during its title defense.

DU is expected to earn an at-large berth in the NCAA Championship on May 8-10.
