Pioneers Advance to Semifinals of SBC Shootout

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - No. 74 Denver defeated Troy, 4-0, in Sun Belt Shootout men's tennis action today at Buck Bouldin Tennis Center. Denver (9-7) advances to the semifinals against South Alabama this afternoon.
DU won the doubles point by sweeping all three matches. The No. 74 tandem of Martin Zimmermann (Ludwigshafen, Germany) and David Simson (Vienna, Austria) opened with an 8-0 win over Mario Silva and Branko Weber. Andrew Landwerlen (Las Cruces, N.M.) and Yannick Weihs (Guntramsdorf, Austria) clinched the doubles point with an 8-4 win over Aurelien Tave and Xavier Masson at No. 3 doubles.
No. 112 Simson made it 2-0 win a 6-3, 6-1 win over Weber at No. 2 singles, while Zimmermann made quick work of Tave at No. 1. Landwerlen clinched the 4-0 win with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Silva at No. 4 singles.
