DU Falls to NC State 4-0

DURHAM, N.C. - The University of Denver men's soccer fell to North Carolina State 4-0  at the Duke/Nike Classic on Friday.

North Carolina State (1-0) struck early, when Chrystel Bakong scored off a goal kick 3:32 into the game.

Junior forward Jesse Henderson (Detroit, Mich.) looked to tie it in the 25th minute for Denver (0-1). Henderson shot off a corner that blocked, and his header off the rebound went wide.

The teams battled through the next 40 minutes until NC State's Tyler Lassiter buried a shot off a corner kick, and the Wolfpack led 2-0 heading into halftime.

NC State extended the lead in the 60th minute, when Lassiter scored his second goal of the game.

The Wolfpack scored a fourth goal in the 83rd minute. Ronnie Bouemboue scored on an assist by Watt Williams.

The Pioneers conclude the Duke/Nike Classic in Durham, N.C. against Duke on Sunday, before the home opener against Dayton on Sept. 11.
