DENVER - Denver claimed its fourth straight win to start the season with a 6-1 decision over in-state rival Air Force last night at CAC-Inverness.
DU claimed the doubles point and five of six singles wins to improve to 4-0. Air Force falls to 0-1.
"Air Force is always ready to compete hard, and we are happy to come away with a win," DU head coach Danny Westerman said. "I am really excited to start the year 4-0, especially going into next weekend's matches against our rivals Middle Tennessee and New Mexico. We need to continue to work hard and improve this week if we are to come away with some wins on the road."
After a clean sweep of the three doubles matches, DU won five singles matches for the convincing win. David Simson (Vienna, Austria), Enej Bonin (Kopar, Slovenia), Fabio Biasion (Velbert, Germany), Andrew Landwerlen (Las Cruces, N.M.) and Jens Vorkefeld (Ostercappeln, Germany) won their respective matches in two sets each.
DU returns to action against Middle Tennessee (Feb. 6) and New Mexico (Feb. 7) in Albuquerque, N.M.
