Box Score MONROE, La.- The University of Denver volleyball team (10-13, 4-5 SBC) topped the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks (0-15, 0-7 SBC) 3-1 (25-16, 23-25, 25-23, 25-14) on Friday evening in the ULM Activity Center, halting a two-match skid. Freshman Colleen King (Steamboat Springs, Colo.) led the Pioneers for the second straight match, finishing with 13 kills.
The strong freshman performance continued throughout the match as Alex Turgeon (Cherry Hills Village, Colo.) and Brea Muhle (Columbus, Neb.) contributed 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Muhle also finished the night with four blocks, while Turgeon finished with 12 digs.
Senior setter Kresson Vreeman (Raymond, Minn.) finished the night with 45 assists, while senior libero Kacie Wikierak (Crystal Lake, Ill.) turned in a 22-dig defensive performance. Also contributing defensively was sophomore Lyndi Johnson (Flower Mound, Texas) who finished with 12 digs.
Stephanie Wardach and Blanca Ocana led the Warhawks with 11 kills each.
Denver remains on the road, traveling to Lafayette, Louisiana to take on the Ragin Cajuns on Saturday, at 6 p.m.
