In this week's installment of Meet the Pioneers, get to know freshman Alison Janecek, a 6-1 forward from Omaha, Neb.
Before Denver: Played varsity basketball from 2006-10 • in 2010 team finished second in the State in Class A • named All-Metro First Team, Class A Second Team All-State and Second Team Super State • ranked fourth in free-throw percentage in the state (82.2%) • played for the Omaha Crusaders during the summer months from 2006-09 • named to the All-Tournament Team in 2009 during the Music City Madness.
Personal: Born March 27, 1992 in Omaha, Neb. • daughter of David and Roberta Janecek • has one sister, Courtney (19) • plans on majoring in business management • chose Denver because of the challenging academics, the basketball program and the coaching staff • was also recruited by Creighton, South Dakota, Northwest Missouri, Kansas State and St. Bonaventure • would like to complete law school • participated in DECA and the 40 Developmental Assets Club • awarded an Academic Letter all four years • also enjoys music, movies, shopping and baking.
