DENVER -- The University of Denver women's basketball team opens its 2025-26 campaign against the Air Force Falcons on Monday night at 6 p.m. in Hamilton Gymnasium.
The Pioneers are 17-5 all-time against the Falcons, including a 9-2 record in Hamilton Gymnasium. Denver dropped the most recent matchup on Nov. 6, 2023, 63-65, in Colorado Springs.Â
DENVER IN SEASON OPENERS
•Denver is 12-15 in season openers since the program turned DI in the 1998-99 season.Â
•The Pioneers are 8-9 in Division I season openers that are true home games.Â
•Last Season: Colorado Christian 66, Denver 73
•Last Win (11/25/20): at Air Force 56, Denver 72
•Last Season-Opening Win at home (11/9/18): Denver 92, UMKC 75

HOMETOWN TALENT
•The Denver squad features three players from Denver and the surrounding suburbs:
Brooke Murrell,
Coryn Watts and
Tori Baker.Â
•Both Watts and Murrell are from Aurora while Baker calls Highlands Ranch home.
SPANISH INFLUENCE
• Four Pioneers join the team from Spain-
Paula Oliva Gomez,
Natalia Fanjul,
Laia Monclova and
Ana Conde.
• Oliva Gomez and Fanjul both led their high school teams to 3x3 championships during their high school careers.
•Conde joins the Pioneers after a season at Siena where she led her team to a WNIT appearance and averaged 15.3 minutes per contest.
• Monclova enters her second season with Denver and averaged 5.2 points and 2.4 rebounds in 20.4 minutes per game.
ADDING SOME EXPERIENCE
• Alongside its four freshmen, Woods added experience to the Pioneers' 2025-26 roster with four transfers:
Lexi Pletschette,
Karolina Padilla,
Ana Conde and
Jocelyn Medina.
•Pletschette spent two seasons at Chabot College where she averaged 16.7 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game and appeared in 59 games as a starter.
• Padilla appeared in 61 games over two seasons at Cochise College and led her team to an NJCAA Region 1 Championship in the 2024-25 season.
• In her freshman season at Siena, Conde averaged 15.3 minutes per contest and helped her team to a WNIT appearance.
• Medina amassed an impressive career at College of the Sequoias, including a Central Valley Conference Championship, Northern California Player of the Year and averaged 22.8 points per game with a 57.8 shooting percentage.
ALL ACROSS THE WORLD
• Denver's 14-player roster comes to the Mile High City from five different states and two countries.
• The five states are: California (Pletschette, Medina), Colorado (Baker, Murrell, Watts), Illinois (Rosenberger, Esparza), Texas (McLeod) and Arizona (Padilla)

FRESH FACES ON THE BENCH
• In addition to the new faces on the roster, Woods added
Janet Butler,
Alex Frazier and
Owen Adams to the coaching staff this offseason.
• Butler joins the staff after spending a season as an assistant coach at Fordham and four seasons on staff at Tulane.
•Frazier previously served as an assistant at Monmouth University, coaching the program's  first All-CAA First Team selection.
• Adams, a former student manager for Denver, returns to the DU staff after serving as a graduate assistant coach at Houston Christian.
DEFENDING THE HOME FLOOR
•Since turning Division I in 1998-99, the Pioneers are 212-155 at home and 79-61 in Hamilton Gymnasium.
•Denver has played in Hamilton full-time since the 2020-21 campaign.
•Denver finished 8-9 at home in the 2024-25 season.Â
