DU Swimming and Diving Sweeps at FAU Invite

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The University of Denver men's and women's swimming teams dominated at the FAU Invitational on Saturday afternoon at the FAU Aquatic Center in Boca Raton, Florida. The Pioneer women defeated FAU (200.00 to 94.00), Rice University (146.50 to 141.50) and Cincinnati (192.00 to 108.00), while the Pioneer men defeated FAU (155.00 to 133.00), Cincinnati (222.00 to 58.00) and Air Force (215.50 to 64.50).

"This meet comes in the middle of a hard training cycle for most teams, including Denver, so it can be hard to predict on performances," said head coach Brian Schrader. "I was really pleased with how hard we raced, and to come out with wins is always great. Jeff and Jay Giddens were great on the men's side and our women were just solid all the way through. Katy Motsinger was great in her win in the 100 Backstroke and in her Relays. Kirsten Milberg's win in the 200 Backstroke was a nice swim as well. Our divers continue to get better and to have Seth McNew make his NCAA Zone Diving Standards is great."

The Pioneer women grabbed two first-place, seven second-place and eight third-place finishes, while the Pioneer men finished with six first-place, seven second-place and eight third-place finishes.

In the men's 200 Medley Relay, the Pioneer team of freshman Kyle Milberg (Littleton, Colo.), sophomore Robert Barrett (Scottsdale, Ariz.), senior Jeff Giddens (Carlsbad, Calif.) and senior Scott Madaras (Yorktown, Va.) took first-place with a time of 1:34.74
