DENVER - University of Denver men's soccer player Jarod Stigall (Plano, Texas) was named to the 2010 NSCAA Division I Far West Region Third Team, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced.
"Jarod had a tremendous season and was a key factor into our conference championship and trip to the NCAA Tournament in both 2008 and this year," Denver head coach Bobby Muuss said.
Stigall was selected to the All-MPSF First Team this season after leading the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation in both assists (8) and points (26), and was tied for second in goals (9). Stigall had 10 points, including two game-winning goals, in Denver's final four regular season games, helping take the Pioneers from third place in the MPSF Mountain Division to the conference championship. Stigall won MPSF Player of the Week honors twice this season: following a two-goal effort to help DU tie No. 16 Portland and beat No. 20 Georgetown (9/13), and after tallying a hat trick at Air Force (10/2). Stigall also was a third team selection to TopDrawerSoccer.com's Men's Team of the Season.
The Pioneers (9-6-4, 6-2-2 MPSF) this season won their second Mountain Pacific Sports Federation regular season championship in the past three years, and earned an at-large berth in the 2010 NCAA Tournament.
