DENVER - No. 25 Denver blanked Illinois State, 4-0, in men's tennis action late Saturday night in Denver. The Pioneers improve to 13-2 with their fifth consecutive win, while the Redbirds drop to 8-7.
DU claimed the doubles point with wins from Yannick Weihs (Guntramsdorf, Austria) and Jens Vorkefeld (Ostercappeln, Germany) at No. 1 and Fabio Biasion (Velbert, Germany) and Andrew Landwerlen (Las Cruces, N.M.) at No. 3. Both teams won 8-6, respectively.
Landwerlen, Vorkefeld and Bonin won in straight sets to clinch the 4-0 win. Landwerlen improved to 14-0 with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Skip Span at No. 5. Vorkefeld improved to 12-3 with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Xavier Riart-Ferrer at No. 6 and Bonin upped his record to 12-2 with a 6-0, 6-4 win over Filip Miljevic at No. 3.
