Box Score DENVER - Bill Sweatt scored the game-winner and 
Joe Howe made 25 saves as No. 15 Colorado College beat No. 1 Denver, 2-1, before a sellout crowd of 6,153 on Senior Night at Magness Arena. 
Junior Marc Cheverie (Cole Harbor, Nova Scotia) made 33 saves and Patrick Wiercioch (Maple Ridge, British Columbia) scored as DU's 10-game winning streak ended. DU falls to 24-7-4 overall and 18-5-4 in the WCHA, while CC improves to 18-14-3, 12-12-3.
"It was a hard-fought game, but CC found a way to win the game," DU head coach George Gwozdecky said. "We had our chances, especially in the last 10 seconds of the game, but I have to give CC full credit for taking advantage of our miscues and playing a great game."
CC jumped out to an early 1-0 lead with a goal from Nick Dineen at 8:22 in the first period. The Pioneers tied it up at 1:05 in the second period when Wiercioch netted a Rhett Rakhshani (Huntington Beach, Calif.) pass.
Sweatt tallied the game-winning goal at 16:03 in the second on a backdoor pass from Mike Testwuide.
The Pioneers pulled Cheverie in the closing seconds of the game, but couldn't get the equalizer on three decent scoring opportunities.
The Pioneers were outshot 35-26 and were held without a power play goal. CC was 1-4 with the man-advantage.
Denver will face CC tomorrow in Colorado Springs, wrapping up the regular- season and determining the winner of the Gold Pan Trophy. The Pioneers need a win to reclaim possession of the coveted trophy for the first time since 2006. Puck drop is set for 7:07 p.m. at World Arena.
Notes: Seniors Cody Brookwell (Calgary, Alberta), Brian Gifford (Moorhead, Minn.), Matt Glasser (Calgary, Alberta), Rakhshani, Tyler Ruegsegger (Lakewood, Colo.) and Brandon Vossberg (St. Paul, Minn.) were recognized before the game. Former Pioneer and Olympic silver medalist Paul Stastny was honored on the ice during the first period. At the end of the game, the Pioneers were presented with the McNaughton Cup. It is the 12th time that Denver has won the WCHA regular season title.
