DENVER - No. 32 Denver struggled to a 5-2 win over Sacramento State late Friday night at CAC-Inverness. The Pioneers improved to 9-2 with the win, while the Hornets drop to 4-6.
"We snuck past a tough Sacramento State team," DU head coach Danny Westerman said. "Hopefully our team will continue to learn from each match. Our motto has been to strive for daily improvement, and we need to continue that trend if we want to reach our year-end goals."
Jens Vorkefeld (Ostercappeln, Germany) and Yannick Weihs (Guntramsdorf, Austria) won 8-4 at No. 1 doubles and David Simson (Vienna, Austria) and Enej Bonin (Kopar, Slovenia) won 8-6 at No. 3.
Simson, Bonin, Vorkefeld and Andrew Landwerlen (Las Cruces, N.M.) posted singles wins for DU.
