No. 16 Illinois Tops No. 39 Denver, 6-1

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - No. 39 Denver recorded the doubles point, but lost 6-1 to No. 16 Illinois today at the ITA Kick-Off at Atkins Tennis Center. DU will play No. 2 seed Oklahoma tomorrow. Illinois plays No. 3 seed Notre Dame.

The Pioneers No. 3 doubles team of Yannick Weihs (Guntramsdorf, Austria) and Jonathan Kidane (Stockholm, Sweden) beat Stephen Hoh and Brian Alden 8-4. DU's No. 1 doubles team of Andrew Landwerlen (Las Cruces, N.M.) and Jens Vorkefeld (Ostercappeln, Germany) clinched the point with an 8-4 win over Dennis Nevolo and Johnny Hamui.

First serve for the Denver (1-1) and Oklahoma match is set for 1 p.m.
