Box Score JONESBORO, Ark. - The University of Denver volleyball team dropped just its second conference match of the season, losing to Arkansas State, 3-1 (26-24, 18-25, 15-25, 20-25) Friday night. Despite a first set victory and an eight-kill, seven-dig performance from redshirt-freshman Kate Oakes (Evergreen, Colo.), the Pioneers dropped the match in four sets.
The Pioneers (6-11, 3-2 SBC) were able to out-block the Warhawks (14-6, 5-1 SBC) 22-10. Junior Lyndi Johnson (Flower Mound, Texas) posted a game-high 17 digs to lead the Pioneers.
Freshman Kate Acker (Waukesha, Wis.) followed up Oakes solid play around the net, recording seven kills and six digs. Senior Julia Cawthra (Lakewood, Colo.) facilitated the Pioneer offense once again with a 29-assist, three-dig night.
The Warhawks increased their SBC West Division lead to two games over the Pioneers. DU plays at UALR on Saturday at 6 p.m. MT.
