Box Score MIAMI, Fla. - The University of Denver volleyball team ended its season in the Quarterfinals of the 2011 Sun Belt Conference Championship as it fell 3-1 (21-25, 25-23, 21-25, 18-25) to Florida International on Thursday evening from US Century Bank Arena in Miami, Fla.
The No. 5 seeded Pioneers conclude their season with a 13-16 overall mark, while the No. 4 seeded Golden Panthers improve to 20-9 and advance to the semifinals to face Western Kentucky on Friday.
Junior Faimie Kingsley (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the Pioneers with 16 kills and five blocks, while senior Alyssa Bonelli (Superior, Colo.) and freshman Kate Acker (Waukesha, Wis.) finished with 11 kills. Redshirt senior Julia Cawthra (Lakewood, Colo.) led the way with 46 assists and junior Lyndi Johnson (Flower Mound, Texas) finished with 25 digs.
Bonelli, along with Cawthra and sophomore Colleen King (Steamboat Springs, Colo.) also chipped in defensively as Bonelli finished with four blocks to go along with Cawthra's and King's three blocks.
Jovana Bjelica led the Golden Panthers with 18 kills, while Andrew Lakovic and Marija Prsa finished with 16 and 15 kills, respectively.
Denver held the blocking advantage 18-7.
