Pioneers Fall 80-49 to Miners

DENVER - The University of Denver women's basketball team fell 80-49 to the UTEP Miners on Saturday evening at the Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas. The loss is the first for the Pioneers, whose record now stands at 4-1. The Miners improve to 5-0.

Senior Kaetlyn Murdoch (Temple, Texas) led the Pioneers with 19 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field and 7-of-10 shooting from the free-throw line. Murdoch, along with sophomore Maiya Michel (Loma Linda, Calif.) led the team with six rebounds apiece.  

Sophomore Quincey Noonan (Broomfield, Colo.) finished with eight points, two assists and four steals, while freshman Jordan Johnston (Waterloo, Iowa) finished with seven points, one assist and one steal.

The Pioneers struggled from the field, shooting 30.8 percent, while the Miners shot 43.9 percent.

Kelli Willingman led the way for the Miners with 18 points, while three others finished in double figures.

Up next, the Pioneers travel to Greeley, Colo., to take on the Northern Colorado Bears on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m.
