DU Men's Golf Finishes Fifth at Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate

PALM DESERT, Calif. - The University of Denver men's golf team finished in fifth place at the Third Annual Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate played at The Classic Club in Palm Desert, Calif. This Pioneers posted an 8-over par 296 in the second round and a 6-over par 294 in the third round for a tournament total of 31-over par 895.

Junior Troy Anderson (Paradise Valley, Ariz.) led the Pioneers with a 1-over par in the second round and a 2-over par 74 in the third round for a 4-over par 220 to finish tied for seventh. Anderson matched his best finish of the season, as he also finished tied for seventh at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invite.

Senior Klinton Krieger (Cheyenne, Wyo.) finished tied for 16th after posting scores of 75 and 72 in the final two rounds for a tournament total of 8-over par 224. This is Krieger's highest tournament finish of the season.  

Freshman Ole Ramsnes (Stavanger, Norway) and Oskar Arvidsson (Karna, Sweden) finished tied for 41st as both finished with scores of 14-over par 230. Ramsnes carded scores of 10-over par 82 in the second round and an even-par 72 in the third round, while Arvidsson carded scores of 1-over par 73 in the second round and 6-over par 78 in the third round.

Freshman Chun-Ji Kim (Chandler, Ariz.) finished in a tie for 49th place with a final score of 15-over par 231. Kim posted scores of 3-over par 75 in the second round and 4-over par 76 in the third round.

Texas A&M won the team title with a 15-over par 879, while Santa Clara's Scott Travers won the individual title with a 3-under par 213.

Next up, the Pioneers travel to Goodyear, Ariz., to host the 2011 Desert Shootout, their annual tournament from March 17-19.
