No. 24 San Diego Defeats Denver, 6-1

TUSCON, Ariz. - No. 24 San Diego beat Denver 6-1 in men's tennis action Saturday at LaNelle Robson Tennis Center. The Pioneers fall to 2-6 with the loss, while the Torros improve to 4-2.

"We competed fairly well in singles, but only after a poor start in doubles," head coach Danny Westerman said. "We need to have a better sense of urgency when doubles begins, and not when we are down 1-0."

Redshirt junior Max Krammer (Perchtoldsdorf, Austria) posted the only Pioneers singles win on the day, defeating Ciaran Fitzgerald in a super tiebreaker at the No. 5 singles match 2-6, 6-2, 10-5.

Junior Enej Bonin (Koper, Slovenia) lost in three sets to No. 77 Nikola Bubnic at No. 1 singles and junior Jens Vorkefeld (Ostercappeln, Germany) was outlasted in the No. 3 singles match by No. 97 Thibaut Visy 7-6, 4-6, 10-5.

Denver returns to action against Arizona on Sunday, Feb. 19.
