Pioneers Roll to Fifth Straight Win

DENVER - The University of Denver rolled to its fifth consecutive win after blanking Sacramento State 7-0 Sunday afternoon at Gates Tennis Center. The Pioneers (8-7) won the doubles point and six singles matches to continue their hot streak.

Enej Bonin (Koper, Slovenia), Yannick Weihs (Guntramsdorf, Austria), Max Krammer (Perchtoldsdorf, Austria), Jens Vorkefeld (Ostercappeln, Germany), Othar Kordsachia (Hamburg, Germany) and Alex Clinkenbeard (Loveland, Colo.) each recorded singles wins for Denver.

Vorkefeld and Kordsachia beat Javier Millan and Aliaksandr Malko 8-3 at No. 1 doubles and Weihs and Clinkenbeard beat Johnathan Hultkrantz and Roy Brandys 8-4 at No. 3 to clinch the doubles point.

"We are playing some good tennis as of late, but the biggest difference is our composure at the end of sets," DU head coach Danny Westerman said. "We have some time to get healthier and fitter these next two weeks and get ready for the stretch run. We need to continue our philosophy of daily improvement."

The Pioneers return to action at UNLV on Thursday, March 22.
