Box Score DENVER - University of Denver men's soccer senior defender Drew Beckie (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) recorded a goal and an assist, as the Pioneers played Drexel to a 3-3 draw at CIBER Field at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium on Friday night.
Beckie got DU (0-1-1) going early, chipping in a corner kick from junior midfielder Zach Bolden (Denver, Colo.) in the 21st minute.
In a frantic 34th minute, Bolden sent in a cross from the end line to sophomore midfielder Brian Hoyt (Tempe, Ariz.), who headed it past Drexel goalkeeper Tim Washam.
However, just 35 seconds later, the Dragons (0-1-1) were awarded a penalty kick, which Guido Pena buried. John Grosh tied the game in the 53rd minute, scoring on a free kick from just outside the box.
Denver regained the lead in the 58th minute, when Beckie dribbled down the side line and served a cross to senior midfielder Josh Wren (Tulsa, Okla.) for a one-timer.
The Dragons tied the game for good in the 76th minute off an unassisted goal from Michele Pataia.
Drexel held a slight 22-21 edge in shots, while the Pioneers had a 13-8 advantage in corner kicks.
