Box Score SEATTLE, Wash. - The University of Denver volleyball team fell 3-2 (25-19, 16-25, 25-16, 12-25, 13-15) on Saturday evening to Seattle University from the Connolly Center in Seattle, Wash. The loss drops the Pioneers to 6-5 on the season and 0-2 in Western Athletic Conference play, while the Redhawks improve to 6-6 overall, 1-1 in WAC play.
"I thought our team played well at times, but we struggled to find consistency," said DU head coach Jesse Mahoney. "We have been on the road four weekends in a row and it will be nice to finally play at home next weekend. We will go to work and look to bounce back."
Junior Colleen King (Steamboat Springs, Colo.) posted a career-high 18 kills to lead the Pioneers, while senior Faimie Kingsley (Brooklyn, N.Y.) finished with 10 kills and tied her career high with 13 block assists. King also finished with seven blocks and two digs.
Sophomore setter Frances Carroll (Whitefish Bay, Wis.) finished with 32 assists, while senior libero Lyndi Johnson (Flower Mound, Texas) tallied 19 digs. Also finishing with double-digit digs was sophomore Kate Acker (Waukesha, Wis.).
Redshirt-freshman Cassie Ronda (Chandler, Ariz.) set a new career-high in blocks with six, while Carroll tied her career-high with three service aces.
Sarah Jaeckel led the Redhawks with 14 kills, while Karina Miastkowska finished with 10 kills. Setter Brice Jacquie tallied 40 assists, while Lani Beadle led the way with 18 digs.
The Pioneers open their home schedule on Thursday, Sept. 20 against Texas Arlington at 7 p.m. from Hamilton Gymnasium. The match will be available on Pioneer Vision and Live Stats all at DenverPioneers.com.
