DENVER - The University of Denver volleyball team will face the University of Texas at Arlington Mavericks in its home opener on Thursday night at Hamilton Gymnasium. This will be the Pioneers first ever home match since joining the WAC. The match is slated to begin at 7 p.m. MT.

SCOUTING THE REDHAWKS
The Mavericks enter the week with a 5-8 overall record following a 3-1 win at Louisiana Tech in their first WAC match of the season. Shelby Dickson led UTA with 12 kills and 19 digs, while Amanda Welsh recorded 45 assists for the Mavericks. Texas at Arlington is in the midst of a four-match road stretch in which it is 1-1 thus far. Like the Pioneers, this is the Mavericks first season as a member of the WAC. Although the two teams have never met, UTA holds a 119-17 all-time record against Sun Belt opponents.
SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
The University of Denver Volleyball team is coming off a Saturday-night loss to Seattle (25-19, 16-25, 25-16, 12-25, 13-25) on the road. Junior Colleen King (Steamboat Springs, Colo.) and senior Faimie Kingsley (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the Pioneers with 18 and 10 kills, respectively. Sophomore Frances Carroll (Whitefish Bay, Wis.) recorded 32 assists. The Pioneers are 6-5 on the season and 0-2 in WAC action so far. King leads the Pioneers with 108 kills on the season, followed by freshman Michele Swope (Orlando, Fla.) and Kingsley with 88 kills. Kingsley leads the way with 60 blocks on the season, averaging 1.58 per set. Senior libero Lyndi Johnson (Flower Mound, Texas) has 153 digs so far this season, while sophomore setter Frances Carroll (Whitefish Bay, Wis.) has 327 assists.
DENVER IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS
Out of 328 NCAA DI institutions, the Pioneers are ranked 50th in blocks per set with a 2.51 average. Washington State leads the way with a 3.28 average. Individually, Kingsley ranks eighth in the nation in blocks per set (1.58), with Kelli Browning of Creighton leading the way with a 1.75 average. Kingsley also ranks 73rd in the country with a .360 hitting percentage. Florida's Tangerine Wiggs leads the way with a .500 hitting percentage.
DENVER IN THE WAC
Denver leads the league in opponents hitting percentage (.154) and ranks second in hitting percentage (.229).The Pioneers also rank third in blocks (2.51) and fourth in service aces (1.26). Individually, Kingsley ranks second in the league in hitting percentage (.360) and in blocks (1.58), while Johnson ranks third in digs (4.03). Carroll ranks third in service aces, averaging .34 per set.
TRACKING THE PIONEERS
Kingsley has entered the DI record books for the Pioneers this season, moving to ninth place for career kills with 738. Kingsley also ranks 10th in kills per set (2.45), fourth in attack percentage (.314), fourth in block solos (43), third in block assists (329), third in total blocks (372) and third in blocks per set (1.24). Johnson has also made her way into the record books among DU's DI student-athletes with 992 career digs, ranking her fifth. Johnson also ranks fourth in digs per set with a 2.98 average. All-time, Kingsley ranks second in attack percentage and sixth in career blocks.
