Pioneers Fall 3-2 to Falcons

USAFA, Colo. - The University of Denver volleyball fell 3-2 (25-18, 20-25, 25-19, 24-26, 9-15) to the Air Force Academy on Tuesday night from Falcon Court. The loss drops the Pioneers to 8-6 on the season, while the Falcons improve to 7-9.

Freshman Michele Swope (Orlando, Fla.) led the Pioneers with 16 kills, while junior Colleen King (Steamboat Springs, Colo.) and redshirt sophomore Cassie Ronda (Chandler, Ariz.) posted eight kills. Senior Faimie Kingsley (Brooklyn, N.Y.) posted seven kills and then finished with an impressive 12 blocks.

Sophomore Frances Carroll (Whitefish Bay, Wis.) finished with 31 assists, splitting the duties with sophomore Bailey Karst (Aurora, Colo.) who tallied 14 assists.

Senior Lyndi Johnson (Flower Mound, Texas) led the way defensively with 15 digs, while Swope finished with 14 digs and sophomore Kate Acker (Waukesha, Wis.) posted 11 digs.

Maggie Sherrill led the Falcons with 18 kills, while Cami Richan and Felicia Clement finished with 14 and 11 kills, respectively.

The Pioneers remain on the road, traveling to Las Cruces, N.M., to take on New Mexico State on Saturday, Sept. 29 for a 12 p.m. MT match.
