SEASON OUTLOOK
Western Illinois, the reigning regular season co-champion of The Summit League, will enter this season with only one of its top five scorers from last season in senior forward Adam Link who along with junior guard Remy Roberts-Burnett are the only returning WIU players who ranked among the team’s top five players in starts last season. Link and Roberts-Burnett accounted for 24.7 percent of the Leathernecks’ total points in 2012-13. WIU will need its three other returning players to contribute more offensively this season, a threesome that combined for only 13.1 percent of the team’s points last year.
2012-13 POSTSEASON
The Leathernecks were one of 16 teams to compete in the College Basketball Invitational last season and faced Purdue in the opening round. The Boilermakers ended WIU’s season with an 81-67 loss.
PRESEASON PREDICTIONS
WIU is predicted to finish fourth by coaches, media and SIDs of The Summit League in their annual preseason poll.
