SCOUTING ILLINOIS AT CHICAGO
Winners of eight straight, the UIC women’s basketball team (8-2) looks to match the best 11-game start in program history. The Flames' 8-2 record is the best 10-game start in the Division I era (1980-present). UIC started 9-1 during the 1976-77 and 1977-78 seasons. A win Saturday would match those 1976-77 and 1977-78 squads (9-2) for the best 11-game start in program history. It is also the first eight-game win streak since Jan. 11-Feb. 10, 2007 in the midst of a program-record 11 consecutive victories. Four of the eight victories have been over 2012-13 WNIT participants (Idaho State, Miami Ohio, Texas Southern and Butler). Rachel Story leads the Flames with 20.4 points per game, while Ruvanna Campbell and Katie Hannemann round out the double-figure scoring with 14.1 and 13.5 points, respectively. Campbell also leads the way with 11.3 rebounds per contest, while Terri Bender has tallied 34 assists. The Flames are averaging 71.3 points per game and are shooting 41.0 percent from the field. UIC opponents are only averaging 65.9 points per game and have been limited to 38.9 percent shooting from the field.
