Indianapolis, Ind. - The Denver Pioneers broke their 15-game winning streak on Sunday, October 19 against IUPUI's Jaguars. IUPUI swept Denver in three sets (25-22, 25-19, 25-22), raising their own record to 12-11 (6-2 in Summit). The Pioneers now sit at a 17-4 (7-1 in Summit) record.
"IUPUI has a very good team and this was a tough environment to play in. We shot ourselves in the foot in sets 1 and 3 during end-game and just gave the Jaguars too many free points off of our own errors," head coach Jesse Mahoney said.
"Our focus moving forward is to get better in these road environments to prepare for when we are back on this floor next month for the conference tournament."
Sophomore Nola Basey led the team in kills with 12 at a .303 hitting rate. Other stat leaders were seniors Bailey Karst with 26 assists and Kate Acker with 13 digs, as well as sophomore Ruth Okoye with 5 blocks.
The Pioneers will play at home on Friday, October 24 against South Dakota State at 7:00 P.M. MT.
