The Assistant Coach's Take:
Scouting the Pioneers: Denver enters the game shooting the ball well from the outside having made 57 3-pointers over the last six games. After struggling shooting the ball from downtown early in the season the Pioneers are now hitting 32 percent of their 3-pointers and average 7.1 made 3-pointers a game.
Point guard Paige Bradley leads DU in scoring and assists with 11.5 points per game and has dished out 45 assists this season. Senior Morgan Van Riper-Rose puts in 11.1 points a game and is shooting 36 percent from behind the 3-point arc. Forward Alecia Espinoza averages 6.9 points per contest and is the leading rebounder on Denver's team with 5.7 boards a game.
Scouting the Mean Green: North Texas (1-8) comes into the game having lost their last two games at home against UT Arlington (46-38) and at San Francisco (60-42). North Texas struggles scoring the ball, averaging just 48.0 points per game this season. The Mean Green rely primarily on their defense to win games, which has been stout thus far. Opponents average 55.2 points per game and hold their foes to 39 percent shooting from the field and 25 percent from behind the 3-point line.
North Texas is led in scoring and rebounding by guard Briesha Wynn, who averages 11.2 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. The team leader in assists is BreAnna Dawkins with 24 assists on the season. Dawkins is second in scoring with 8.1 points per game and averages 3.8 boards a game.
