Dec. 3, 2014 Elmhurst, Ill. - For the second consecutive season, University of Denver men's soccer standout Taylor Hunter (Aurora, Colo.) has been named to the Summit League Academic All-League team. Hunter, a finance major, has compiled an impressive 3.92 grade point average. Seven of the 12 players named to the Academic All-League team had grade point averages over 3.75.
"I am happy that Taylor has been recognized by the conference for his academic success," said DU head coach Bobby Muuss. "Taylor is a very focused and determined young man that embodies the true meaning of student-athlete. We certainly will miss Taylor's leadership on the field next year but will truly miss the way he leads himself as a human being. He is a true professional in everything he does."
Earlier this year, Hunter was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 7 First Team from the College Sports Information Directors of America. It was the third time Hunter earned that honor.
Hunter a senior, was named the MVP of the Summit League tournament and captained the Pioneers to their second consecutive NCAA tournament appearance. It was the first time in school history DU has gone to back-to-back NCAA tournaments. The Pioneers suffered a tough 1-0 loss to Oregon State to end their season.
